Joie Chitwood did thrill shows... car stunts, riding on two wheels, jumps through the air... things like that. They were popular at county fairs and accessories to larger events in the 70s and 80s. I believe some version of the Chitwood Thrill Show is still going today...

The Chitwood's were a touring automotive stunt show from the 40's up until the late 90's when sponsorship dried out. The automotive thrill show is a thing of the past, it is a shame. There is only one thrill show that tours the country still and that is TONNY PETERSEN'S HELL DRIVERS. I'm a bit of a thrill show junkie. and will be performing my own acts at local tracks this year.

I remember seeing them at the county fair when I was a kid.. They also had junkers from local junkyards thet they would destroy in some form or another, sideswap passes, stack some on their ends and crash through them with another, ramp into a pile of cars, that sort of thing.. It really was fun to watch, at least for me it was!!
